Beyond the Horizon with Quick Quotes

Happy Saturday to you!

I'm up over on the Quick Quotes blog today.  I created a card to share that I've used the pattern paper sentiment as part of my overall design. Do you ever do this?

In honor of Mother's Day I really wanted to create a card that would be suitable for Mom on her special day or serve another purpose as well.

I started with the Baggage Claim 100 paper, then cut the "Beyond the Horizon" sentiment from it. I added a few hearts and doily behind it, then finished with the banner backing for the "Love You" sticker in the Sheer Joy collection.

April Club Q!

Happy Wednesday to you!

It's my day to host the blog over at Quick Quotes and share an April Club Q project which features the Altered kit and our all new Calypso collection.

The April Club Q - Altered Kit features this fun tag chipboard! You can use it to build a mini album or create individual gifts as well.

Designer's Tip:

I cut my sticker banner flag in teal and using the bottom cut piece from the sticker, created additional sticker flags to layer under my "You are amazing" sentiment.  It's fun to get more mileage from your embellishments this way.

Zip-A-Dee Doodle Cards with BoBunny

Happy October to you!

We're celebrating over on the BoBunny Blog with some cards inspiration today featuring the new Zip-A-Dee Doodle collection.  It's very versatile as you will see by the variety of designs you can create using it!  I love the blues and greens with the black and white in the collection.

YOU'RE SO SWEET (A2 sized card)

I was inspired by the 3x4 and 4x6 cards in our collections.  This one is from the Zig Zag paper and I loved the soft and pretty feel of it.  I added just a touch of Stickles to accent the sugar jar and some soft scallops to frame the sentiment.

BoBunny Supplies:
Patterned Paper: Authentic, Meow, Creative, Zig Zag/Zip-A-Dee Doodle
Chipboard: 12x12 Chipboard/Zip-A-Dee Doodle

Other:  Stickles, Bow, String, Sophia Scallop Border die by Cheery Lynn Designs.

HELLO LOVE pop-up card

Interactive cards are always fun to create.  I've stamped on the base here with Versamark using the Zip-A-Dee Doodle Stamps.  A pretty brad is used to create the pull.  This collection is so fun and whimsical, but yet has a very fun romantic appeal to it.

For anyone interested in the tutorial for this free standing pop up card, I found it here over on SplitCoastStampers. It does fold flat to mail (see below).

Neapolitan Collection by Pretty Little Studio

Happy Friday crafty friends!

I've got a Pretty Little Studio project to share with you today that I created featuring the all new Neapolitan collection. When I looked at the all of the fun design elements in the collection, one of my favorites are the Strawberry Arrows and I knew I wanted to use those!

I thought it would be fun to accent my son's rosy cheeks in this photo (and of course his silly face!) with a bit of pink. When we ask him what his favorite color is, he says "every color in the world!", so the sherbet swirl was the perfect choice for the background pattern here.

A little extra texture was added by layering my arrows and garland circles. What a fun collection!!!

Pinspiration with BoBunny!

Happy Tuesday to you!  I'm very excited to be sharing a project today over on the BoBunny blog!  We were challenged to find an image on Pinterest and create a project inspired from it.

Here is a color board that I loved!

The colors inspired me to create this:

I loved that the colors in this honeymoon photo of my husband and I coordinated so nicely with the Pinterest color board. The Miscellaneous Me sticker sentiment "Today was Amazing" worked perfectly here also.

You'll see quite a few pieces of our Noteworthy items here. After I assembled my design I really wanted to accent the arch at the top so I pierced a border around it.

Don't be afraid to use pieces from your Dimensional Stickers! On this page I have taken just the sentiment piece off of the sticker. The "You & Me" and the "Love" are downsized and worked so nicely on the page.

I love the clock theme that is a strong component in the collection and wanted to add a bit more of it into the page.

BoBunny Supplies:
Cardstock: Double Dot - Chocolate, Chiffon and Licorice Flourish
Patterned Paper: 14801890, Antique / The Avenues
Jewels: The Avenues
Stickers: Dimensional Stickers, Combo Sticker, Misc. Me / The Avenues
Chipboard: 12x12 Chipboard / The Avenues
Noteworthy: The Avenues
Trinkets: The Avenues

Relaxing on a Saturday...

Happy Saturday to you! It's my day over on the Quick Quotes blog. I have a card to share featuring the very pretty Dusty Road collection.

I thought it would be fun to stamp and color for a change*, so I gave it a try.  I've not colored with my Copics in awhile so I decided to practice again, which is where this card came from. I had my Dusty Road papers in front of me and took great inspiration from the collections colors.

*Disclaimer - I am a total novice with Copics.  No Copics or stamps were harmed during this process - pretty sure anyway.  : )

The fun thing with our 6x6 Paper Pads is they are so perfect for card making.  I love the variety of papers included, including the card stock.

I thought the tiny bow was too cute so I put it in her hair:

The colors in this line work wonderfully for so many projects, from feminine to masculine. I also love how a simple design can look intricate with just a few additions of a flourish or die cut.

It was fun to break out of my comfort zone and try something different. That's what I love about this hobby, there's always something to spark your creativity!  I started out coloring this image with brunette hair, but switched to blonde because it reminded me of the friend that I am going to send this to.

Batter Up!

Thursday Greetings crafty peeps!

It's my day on the Moxxie blog and for this project I decided to showcase the TeeBall collection. Today's post features multiple images, yet white space a a bit of fun with patterns.

I took a series of photographs of our boys playing ball in the backyard and decided to create a bit larger collage of them. These were printed scaled to 8x10, but when I cropped it the final size was 6x6.  This resulted in a nice size for balancing a page without feeling cramped.

Batter Up!

I matted my photo onto this very cool patterned paper:

See how it changed in appearance as I cropped it to a single block width?

I knew that I wanted some white space in my design, so I kept my accents and embellishments to a minimum. It's fun to play with the design strips sometimes to create your own look.  Here is the sheet of design strips.  Do you see the ones I selected?  Practice, practice, practice!  The baseball stitching thin strip, the red t-ball strip and the polka dot thin strip.

Once I had my bits and pieces arranged and positioned, I adhered everything and then added my coordinating stickers and rub-ons.  I loved the long border of baseballs that narrowed in size, so I added that to the top of my page.

I added a few extra embellies from my stash like the baseball button:
My date tab uses a piece of paper from Midway Madness.  : )

I hope I've inspired you to get those photos on paper today!  Why not try a photo collage?  It makes a big impact and keeps the focus of your page to your subject.

Customizing Your Embellishments

Greetings crafty friends!  I'm up on the Moxxie blog today with a fun page featuring Moxxie's "Fish Stories/Happy Camper" collections.

Ever have an embellishment that you just love and want to use, but it doesn't quite work for your project the way it is?  I have that happen too. Here's an example from my project today that I absolutely loved and wanted to incorporate.

This super cute wooden frame:
My photo collage did not fit under it nicely, so I just cut it apart.

I thought it worked nicely as a dock or fence accent here.

I had some "Lure Me In" paper scraps left from my last project and I decided to cut the word "Fish" and the large fish out and layer them into the design.  To add interest I did cut each of the fins to add some texture.

The sweet little owl was cut from one of the Happy Camper Punch-Out die cuts.  I added Glossy Accents to his eyes and perched him with foam dots on a piece of the rope die cut from that same sheet.

The beige flourish die cuts were the last elements that I put in place. They really help your eye move through the title work and around the page.

Ingredients Used:
Kraft Cardstock
Diamond Stickles and Glossy Accents- Ranger
Enamel Dots - Theresa Collins
Chesapeake Circle - Memory Box Die
Brown Bling - Want2Scrap
Mocha Mama PowderPuff Chalk Ink - Quick Quotes
Other:  Wood Alpha's, Sewing Machine and Thread

Next, I created a few layers for my page using the Storybrook Lane:
Simply trace and trim!

A little fussy cutting on the wave pattern paper was a fun addition!

I hope you've enjoyed a little peek into how easy the Kiwi Lane Designs templates can make your project planning and design.  I highly recommend the photo templates for anyone who likes to visually plan their photo layouts in advance.
