Spring Inspiration with Cheery Lynn Designs

Thursday greetings to you!  It's my lucky day to share a project over on the Cheery Lynn Designs blog.

Right now where I live, we are in the midst of a super sub zero arctic deep freeze. To brighten my spirits I decided to create a card with some cheerful colors and a hint of Spring to it.

"I Like You" (A2 Card)

I recently received a few new dies, the Dutch Doily Rectangle Frame and the Bird on a Branch and I wanted to use them. I layered the Dutch Doily Rectangle Frame on top of a pretty card stock base that had a floral design in the bottom right corner.

Next, I pierced the scallop interior holes in the Doily Frame for texture. I cut the Alpine Doily Flourish from a scrap piece of vellum and layered it in the middle of the frame.

Next, I cut several varieties of florals using the Sunflower, Embellishments #3, Sweet Williams Strip, Dandelions and Tea Rose Medium. I also cut a pair of Wheat Heads. I mixed up my Sunflower layers for fun. The Sweet Williams Strip florals were lightly misted, scrunched up and inked, then glued together.

I layered in the Bird on a Branch and then completed the card with a few crystals and pearls along with the sentiment frame at the top. A tiny bit of gold string added a little texture to the floral composition.

I hope you liked my card today, I had a lot of fun making it!

July Club Q Inspiration

Hi Crafty friends!

It's my day over on the Quick Quotes blog!  Today I'm sharing a creation using pieces from the July Club Q.  I loved the feel of the elements in the kit and wanted to play a little bit on the chalkboard feel of the black background pattern paper a bit.

The title is attached with foam dots for dimension.

I loved the title and of course the chipboard polaroid frames too!
The touch of doily softens the background a bit.  I love that bling!!!

The photo was my inspiration and was taken during pajama day at the boys preschool.  I loved the backdrop and how sweet they are to each other.  I added a few other tidbits of things from my stash that worked with the theme.

Quick Quotes Ingredients
PowderPuff Chalk Ink:  Coal Miner, Coconut White and Red Hot
Vellum (Up-cycled from a Quick Quotes invoice.)

Other:  Want2Scrap Bling, Flair by Fancy Pants, Word Bands, Tiny Attacher and Mini Cards by Tim Holtz for Ideaology, Journaling Block by Jenni Bowlin Studio, Cardstock by American Crafts, Enamel Dots by MME.

Quick Quotes Club Q Potluck!

"Sometimes friendships last a lifetime...
because just being together is enough."

*******

Happy Monday crafty peeps!  I'm super excited to be up over on the Quick Quotes blog today!!!

I have a fun project to share with you today that I will call Club Q Potluck!  It has pieces from various Club Q kits.  The purple scallop border die cut is from the April Club Q kit.

Notice that my photos here are not perfect?  (No, your eyes are not seeing things!)  My husband and I found a photo booth one evening during date night.  I was so bummed to see that after they printed out, the quality of the photos were streaked.  In the end, it doesn't matter, because what did matter to me was the story that was in the pictures.  : )

It's just us, having fun and being our very imperfect selves!

I added the bling from our December Club Q which is from Want2Scrap. Isn't it pretty?  I cut it apart and made it work into the design.

Here I used the Butterflies - Bag 'O Chips chipboard butterfly, pressure embossed it and then inked with Purple Passion PowderPuff Chalk Ink, then coated it with a layer of glossy accents.  You could also use embossing ink and some UTEE for a similar effect.  I then added a die cut butterfly on top to give a little more dimension and texture.

The negative relief cardstock sentiments were from a Club Q kit as well. They were ivory and I used Baja Blue, Very Berry and Biscotti to color them.

Quick Quotes Ingredients:
Club Q Kits (April, November and December, plus others)
Paper (Summer Breeze 400 - Base paper)
PowderPuff Chalk Ink:  Baja Blue, Biscotti, Very Berry and Purple Passion
Frosted Flourishes

Other Ingredients:
Butterfly Die on Chipboard - CLD
Accordion Flower - Tim Holtz for Sizzix
Glossy Accents - Ranger
Butterfly Punches - medium - MS, small EK Success
Textile Texture embossing folder - Cuttlebug
Big Shot - Sizzix
Diamond Stickles - Ranger

Thanks so much for stopping on over today!  Have a super scrappity day!

Clear Scraps and Quick Quotes Hop!

Happy Friday to you!

I'm super excited to be part of this fun hop between Clear Scraps and Quick Quotes!!!  I received this beautiful "Send It Clear" card with a bell closure.  The Cracklin' Rose collection seemed like the perfect compliment to this card.

I decided to use a bit of Glitter Modge Podge on the backs of my front bell closure pieces to simulate the feel of snow and ice.  You'll see the snowflakes and angel that were stamped with a bit of White Staz-On ink to give a bit of interest and texture to my card.  The glitter effect is very pretty but a little tricky to photograph.

I've adorned the bell with some ribbon at the top, a touch of bling and a button on the bottom.

The inside of my card...  I used the "Dreaming of a White Christmas"
Itty Bitty Vellum Quote and inked behind the vellum.

Here's the back of my card, all ready to address!

You can see I lined the right panel of my card so that the sentiment is totally obscured from the front when closed.  I thought it was a nice surprise.  There is still room on that right panel to include a cute Christmas photo too!

The Cracklin' Rose collection is so rich and elegant, it was perfect for this project!!!

Ingredients:
Bell - Send it Clear Card - Clear Scraps
Cracklin' Rose Collection - Quick Quotes
PowderPuff Chalk Inks - Midnight ConfessionsBiscotti and Green with Envy - Quick Quotes

Fall Blog Hop with Quick Quotes

Happy Fall to you!

The designers over at Quick Quotes are celebrating with a blog hop! We're thrilled to feature adhesive products from our friends at Helmar. They were so kind to send us products to sample.

You should be arriving to my blog from Christine

If you don't know where to start, please visit the Quick Quotes blog.

*****

I created a home decor project on a 9 x 12 flat canvas panel featuring our Cherry Truffle collection, PowderPuff Chalk Inks, Chipboard Laser Die Cuts and a Vellum Quote to share with you today.

"The Will of the Wind"

There are a few different techniques that I am excited to show you!

To start, I prepared my canvas. I simply inked the edges all around with some Biscotti first, then lightly with Mocha Mama. After that, I grabbed my silicone mat and used it to create my palette to paint for the canvas. I just pressed my ink pad down in three separate places to give me my colors and then spritzed a bit of water into them.

The effect I was going for was a slight tint of color wash for the canvas. I used a very watered down Baja Blue on the top, then my Green with envy on the bottom.  A bit of the Amaretto in the middle was to bring them all together.  Adding just a little water to my canvas using a lightly damp 1/2" wide brush, I continued until I had the right touch of color. I did not put away my inks just yet! Once my canvas was completely dry (about 20 minutes or so), I started on my next step.

Hint:  You need the canvas completely dry when you start this next step for the best results.

Stenciling with PowderPuff Chalk Inks
"Fall Leaves" - Bag o Chips were used.

This was so fun and super easy.  I used the relief discs and a dry paintbrush to color in the leaves with my PowderPuff Chalk Ink.  I held the disc with one hand and applied with my paintbrush using the other. You could tape the disc easily too.

I had a damp paper towel and used one brush and alternated between the three colors to achieve my blended results. I really just love how nicely they turned out!  I let those dry and worked on my Tree next.

*****

The featured tree is called the "Whimsical Tree" and I just love it!  It's a nice lightweight chipboard and it takes our Chalk Inks beautifully.  I applied some Mocha Mama, Amaretto, Baja Blue and Green with Envy PowderPuff Chalk Inks here.

After achieving the coloring that I liked on the tree, I wanted to add some more life like texture as well. I've had Helmar products for a little while and this is from my personal stash.  It's a crackle medium which I applied to the Whimsical Tree after inking.  It's a 2 step process.

At this point I cut my bike and leaf embellishments and inked some of them.  I also selected my "Will of the Wind" vellum quote, tore it into sections, then inked on the back to create a little blended coloring.

To apply my bike and the vellum quote, I used the Helmar V2 Vellum Adhesive.  It worked so beautifully!  If you want to adhere your plain vellum and have no adhesive peek-a-boo, I strongly  recommend this product.  You spray it on and then wait for a few minutes and it's ready to apply.  Simple as that!

The crackle texture of the tree...

I cut the title section of my quote with one of my cloud dies to nest.
The larger mat cloud was elevated using Helmar 1/4" Round ZapDots.

The quote was then matted and applied to canvas with Helmar 450.

I hope you enjoyed my little project today!  I'm super excited to hang this in our front entry for the Fall! That quote is absolutely perfect for my house full of boys!

The Will of the Wind

A little boys will is the will of the wind,
He'll rough house, tumble and fall.
He loves his trucks and dirt and trees, and
of course that isn't all.

A baseball cap upon his head,
his knees are bruises and scars.
Gim him some dirt and a Tonka truck and he'll
build a bridge to the stars.

Give him a bat and give him a ball and
give him a tree to climb...
A little boys will is the will of the wind
and I'm so glad he's mine!

September Club Q

Happy Thursday to you!  It's ScrapFest eve here in Minnesota.  lol!

I'm hosting the Quick Quotes blog today to share my creation using pieces of the September Club Q kit which features the newly released Cracklin' Rose line.

I was inspired by the square die cuts that are part of the kits.  This line has some gorgeous rich colors that I wanted to emphasize, so I chose black and white photos for my project.  Technically the Cracklin' Rose line is a holiday line, but I like to mix things up and decided to use it for an everyday page.

"Brothers by Chance, Friends by Choice" 12x12 layout

The accordion flowers and twine add a bit of texture:

I started by arranging my square die cuts, then finding the proper balance and location for the photos.  After I was happy with that, I added the fish tale accents under all of the photos.  The accordion flower accents and leaves were the finishing element.

September Club Q Kit, Quick Quotes

Magic happens to those who believe...

Happy Saturday crafty peeps!

I'm up today over on the Quick Quotes blog.  I thought I would play along with Suzanne's challenge from yesterday and share some cards with you.  These feature the all new Stowaway collection and our Itty Bitty Box of Vellum Quotes which are just perfect for card making.

I created a simple corrugated tag with packaging leftovers to use as a sentiment block.

Ingredients:  Stowaway collection, PowderPuff Chalk Inks in Baja Blue and Mocha Mama, Itty Bitty Box of Vellum Quotes - Sentiments and brads by Quick Quotes, A2 Postage Stamps Spellbinders die cuts, Washi tape by Queen and Co. and K and Co., Flower by Creative Charms, Corner Chomper, Cardstock, String and Cardboard.

These die cuts were part of a class during the Quick Quotes St. Louis Private Reserve that I recently attended.   Not sure what a Private Reserve is?  It's an amazing weekend packed full of scrapping, prizes, fun and friendship!  For a more detailed description check out this blog post.

Ken Oliver from Spellbinders passed out the quotes, die cuts, cardstock and brads, then said...  do something with these, make your own cards...  so here are my creations.

I hunted around in my bag of goodies to see what might be fun to add and included my Washi Tapes.  The cardboard packaging came from the Scrapbook Album box that we all received.

I hope I've inspired you a bit today and if you happen to create a card, link on up to our Challenge!

Have a super scrappity day!

Inspiration Sunday with Quick Quotes

Good Sunday morning to all my crafty friends!

I'm here today to share another project with you featuring the all new Quick Quotes line "Just Because".  There is also some vellum here as well, of course.  : )

"Family Everyday Moments"  (12x12 layout)

The sunburst pattern paper in this line has such an awesome feel to it.  I really wanted to use it with just the right photo.  My hubby is such a kid at heart...  as evidenced here.  lol!  It felt like the green paper needed to be anchored a little lower and tight to the bottom left corner.  A little stitching with zig zags added the feel of more movement too.

I used a landscape silhouette die cut on some vellum scraps for this layer.

A few more collage style details.

Gathering My Family Mini Album with Quick Quotes

Happy Tuesday crafty peeps!

Today is my turn to share with you my canvas project over at Quick Quotes.  Did you know that Quick Quotes store carries a wonderful variety of canvas in a variety of sizes?  It's really a fun and versatile medium to use for projects!

I started with two flat canvas panels in 5x7 size.  The edges were inked with Biscotti PowderPuff Chalk Ink.  The canvas is a perfect foundation to create a mini album in a convenient size, so I took the new "Just Because" line, Itty Bitty Vellum Quotes and some of my favorite pictures and this is my project.

To the cover, I added some die cuts, chipboard and Prima flowers.

The fence is white card stock inked with Biscotti and Mocha Mama.

This size canvas is perfect for 4x6 photos!

I added a journaling spot, Itty Bitty Vellum Quote attached with eyelets and die cuts.

Simple stitching is all that was added here.

A little kraft envelope accented with Tahiti to emphasize the design can hold journaling.

I loved this Itty Bitty Quote and used my Spellbinders to frame it.

A piece of scrap acetate overlay from a prior Club Q kit worked perfectly here!

The blue partial mat here is a scrap from my page 3 die cuts.

This floral paper was a perfect fit for this Grandma photo!

Very simple page, the colors were so nice for this!

I thought the little die cut was a fun addition here.

In decorating the back cover, I really wanted to be sure it would lay flat and stand the test of time so I created a simple grid pattern to feature some of the various pattern papers in the line.  A bit of added stitching added just a little extra texture.

Designer's Notes:

To attach paper to the canvas covers I used Beacon's 3-in-1 adhesive.  My fence was attached using my Xyron 5" Creative Station.

To conserve paper on my interior pages, I stitched only on photos and then adhered to my page, so it looks like it was stitched actually to the page.  This allowed me to use a single piece of paper on each interior page and make use of the double sided pattern papers.

This line is perfectly named...  "Just Because" you really can use it for any kind of project, it is incredibly versatile!  The soft buttercream, blues, green and still pinks and orange and brown are amazing.

I hope that I've inspired you to take a look at using Canvas as a foundation for your next album.

Introducing... "Just Because"!

Happy Saturday crafty peeps!

Does it feel like Saturday to you with the holiday mid-week?  Over at Quick Quotes, we're really celebrating a bit with sneak peeks of our all new releases!!!  I'm have a page to share with you that I created using the new collection called "Just Because".

The collection is whimsical and has some of my all time favorite colors and patterns in it!  I really think you're going to be in love with it too! When I started looking through my photos it was around Father's Day and I came across this one of my hubby holding our boys when they were little.  The colors were such a wonderful match and I adore the expression that he has holding his boys!

Daddy's Boyz (12x12 page)

I started with my blue wavy background, matted with some brown cardstock, then added some circle die cuts.  The larger is a Spellbinders Grand Circle, the smaller is a Memory Box.  I inked my chipboard gear with Tahiti PowderPuff Chalk Ink, Mango Mai Tai and some Mocha Mama.

The tree is a die cut from white cardstock that I inked with Mocha Mama, Green with Envy and Mango Mai Tai to coordinate.  My photo was matted into a large lattice die cut.

I created my tag pocket with a Jillian Vance Designs for Spellbinders die and tucked in a Core'dinations tag.  That sunburst paper is so  fabulous, it's one of my favorites besides the blues!!!  My sentiment is from the Itty Bitty Vellum Quotes - Babies, Kids, Family.  I added a rub-on "Z" letter to the end of "BOY" so it would work for the page.

To anchor my design a banner strip was added.  The flash of dark orange is a cut piece of the sunburst paper, angled to piece into the strip.  The Magic Mesh tape was added for a bit of texture behind.  The chipboard stars are from the Just Jackson Glitter Diecuts.  My zig zag was cut using my Silhouette.

Ingredients:
Just Because papers, Quick Quotes
Itty Bitty Vellum Box - Babies, Kids, Family - Quick Quotes
Balloon 8x10 Chipboard (gear) - Quick Quotes
PowderPuff Chalk Inks:  Tahiti, Mocha Mama, Mango Mai Tai, Green with Envy

Just Hangin' Out with Quick Quotes!

Happy Friday!!!

I'm super excited to share a page that I created with pieces from the June Club Q kit today!  It featured our Summer Samba and had such bright and fun colors!!!  These photos are of our youngest last year when he was 2.  They grow so so fast!!!

The kit included so many super cool die cut shapes to work with!  I used the white scalloped square die cut and I cut an end to layer under my papers.  I also cut the sun apart from one of the provided cuts and thought it would be fun to layer over the yellow here.  I embellished it with a flourish acetate piece and a wooden button from my stash.

I absolutely LOVE our Frosted Flourishes!  They add such a nice soft feel to a project and can help show some movement.  To add to the fun here I attached my yellow paper with a few segments of zig zag stitching.

The Itty Bitty Vellum quote that I used here felt just perfect for the page!  I used a scrap piece of black card stock and a rectangle Spellbinders die to create a very simple frame.  The black coordinated nicely with my photo mats.
