July BoBunny Inspiration

Friday greetings crafty friends! I have a fun BoBunny project to share with you here on the blog today.

One of our more recent collections, Butterfly Kisses blends tremendously well with a previous collection called Soiree. I've used pieces from both in my art journal pages that I am sharing here.

I prepared the foundation papers in the journal by using the Whimsy Stickable Stencil and some White Gesso, then misted using Gold, Sugar, Tutu and Mint Glimmer Sprays. I first selected the paper that I would be using for each page, then adjusted the coloring accordingly.

Once misted, I used a slightly damp paintbrush to move and blend those colors together to coordinate best with the pattern papers I selected.

Recently in between paper crafting projects, I have started a bit of quilting. It began as a simple thing that I wanted to create a quilt for each of my sons. Once I completed them, I made a few more and thought it would be nice to capture this other art form in my art journal.

Above you will see how blending a few of the Pearlescents together made my Laser Cut Chipboard Tag coordinate perfectly!

I backed the Butterfly Kisses Chipboard Frame here with some leftover patterned paper from my 2nd Round Design Team Submission project that you will see later in my video. I tucked in the photo collage and added a few other Chipboard embellishments.

For this page, my patterned paper has a stronger pink and peach tone, so I adjusted the amount of TuTu and Gold in my Glimmer Spray. I love how nicely the colors blend, but yet you still see the textures from the White Gesso and Whimsy Stickable Stencil.

A few of our pretty Dies are used to add soft and elegant accents.

I loved this sentiment, it is so true from any type of crafting, if hands have touched it and created it with love, that is special. It is true of cooking, children's art work in school, cards and scrapbook pages to quilted, knitted, crocheted or other handmade projects.

All of these things are so worth the invested time to learn and very rewarding and heartwarming to me.

April Club Q with Quick Quotes

Happy Wednesday to you!  It's my day to host the blog over at Quick Quotes.

I have a page to share created with pieces from the April Club Q Kits along with a bit of mixed media and chipboard tossed in for fun. The kit has these really fun alphas and coordinating chipboard circle frames for them. They were so cute, I decided to use them in a whimsical way for my title work.

"The Sweet Life"

I started by using a bit of white gesso, then added a bit of modeling paste using some stencils. I used a splatter stencil and also a speckles. After that dried, I rubbed some Seabrook PowderPuff Chalk Ink across the top of the speckles.

After that, I used a variety of coordinating mists colors randomly, then misted with a bit of water to let them mix together. Then I dabbed them a bit and used my heat gun to dry the paper.

The sentiment cut aparts in the kit are so cute, they were perfect for my page!  The boys were enjoying some mini donuts at the circus and what a mess. That provided the inspiration for the mixed media here... the speckles are like the bits of sugar that were all over the place.

I assembled my title, then inked the frames with a touch of Seabrook also. The outer edge of my patterned base paper was inked with Coal Miner PowderPuff Chalk Ink.

March Club Q with Quick Quotes!

Happy Tuesday crafty friends! It's my day to host the blog over at Quick Quotes today.

I've got a project featuring pieces from the March Club Q Altered kit and some of my other products to share with you today. I just love the altered kit this month and decided to create a home decor inspirational canvas (6x6) with it.

"Celebrate the Best day Ever… Everyday!"

I used pieces from the kit and added a chipboard ticket sentiment from the Baggage Claim collection. For my raw chipboard pieces in the kit, I prepped them with Gesso before inking with my PowderPuff Chalk Inks.

The frame bracket is inked with Khaki and my "Everyday" sentiment is inked with Tahiti and Baja Blue. My canvas was inked with Baja Blue, Caribbean Blue and Tahiti, blended together. The "Celebrate"vellum was inked in the back with Khaki to coordinate with my frame.

I just love how versatile the Baggage Claim collection is and of course, the fabulous elements in the Club Q Kits make creating something special easy and fast!

Quick Quotes Supplies Used:

Other Items: Prima Stamp (Lots of Love), Memento Ink, Copics, Enamel Dots by MME, Sequins, Button and Thread

Birthday Card featuring Dusty Road!

Happy Tuesday to you!

I've got a fun card today to share with you featuring some all new Quick Quotes products!  Their new collection "Dusty Road" is super romantic and pretty.

During the month of March we are showcasing our all new Quotes Bundles and PowderPuff Chalk Ink colors.

I chose the Birthday sentiment from the Quotes Bundles - Sentiments collection and selected some of the new coordinating PowderPuff Chalk Ink colors, Plum Crazy, Dusty Rose and Coconut while pondering the start of my card.  I used one of the 12x12 papers and cut to create my 6x6 base that you see here.

After choosing my birthday sentiment, I knew I wanted to create a foundation sentiment block to layer underneath for texture and interest. I thought it would be nice to emboss some purple, white core cardstock, sand it and then touch a bit of the Dusty Rose PowderPuff Ink.

Some more details...

I also used Coal Miner with the Chipboard Gate and I love how it turned out!

Fall Blog Hop with Quick Quotes

Happy Fall to you!

The designers over at Quick Quotes are celebrating with a blog hop! We're thrilled to feature adhesive products from our friends at Helmar. They were so kind to send us products to sample.

You should be arriving to my blog from Christine

If you don't know where to start, please visit the Quick Quotes blog.

*****

I created a home decor project on a 9 x 12 flat canvas panel featuring our Cherry Truffle collection, PowderPuff Chalk Inks, Chipboard Laser Die Cuts and a Vellum Quote to share with you today.

"The Will of the Wind"

There are a few different techniques that I am excited to show you!

To start, I prepared my canvas. I simply inked the edges all around with some Biscotti first, then lightly with Mocha Mama. After that, I grabbed my silicone mat and used it to create my palette to paint for the canvas. I just pressed my ink pad down in three separate places to give me my colors and then spritzed a bit of water into them.

The effect I was going for was a slight tint of color wash for the canvas. I used a very watered down Baja Blue on the top, then my Green with envy on the bottom.  A bit of the Amaretto in the middle was to bring them all together.  Adding just a little water to my canvas using a lightly damp 1/2" wide brush, I continued until I had the right touch of color. I did not put away my inks just yet! Once my canvas was completely dry (about 20 minutes or so), I started on my next step.

Hint:  You need the canvas completely dry when you start this next step for the best results.

Stenciling with PowderPuff Chalk Inks
"Fall Leaves" - Bag o Chips were used.

This was so fun and super easy.  I used the relief discs and a dry paintbrush to color in the leaves with my PowderPuff Chalk Ink.  I held the disc with one hand and applied with my paintbrush using the other. You could tape the disc easily too.

I had a damp paper towel and used one brush and alternated between the three colors to achieve my blended results. I really just love how nicely they turned out!  I let those dry and worked on my Tree next.

*****

The featured tree is called the "Whimsical Tree" and I just love it!  It's a nice lightweight chipboard and it takes our Chalk Inks beautifully.  I applied some Mocha Mama, Amaretto, Baja Blue and Green with Envy PowderPuff Chalk Inks here.

After achieving the coloring that I liked on the tree, I wanted to add some more life like texture as well. I've had Helmar products for a little while and this is from my personal stash.  It's a crackle medium which I applied to the Whimsical Tree after inking.  It's a 2 step process.

At this point I cut my bike and leaf embellishments and inked some of them.  I also selected my "Will of the Wind" vellum quote, tore it into sections, then inked on the back to create a little blended coloring.

To apply my bike and the vellum quote, I used the Helmar V2 Vellum Adhesive.  It worked so beautifully!  If you want to adhere your plain vellum and have no adhesive peek-a-boo, I strongly  recommend this product.  You spray it on and then wait for a few minutes and it's ready to apply.  Simple as that!

The crackle texture of the tree...

I cut the title section of my quote with one of my cloud dies to nest.
The larger mat cloud was elevated using Helmar 1/4" Round ZapDots.

The quote was then matted and applied to canvas with Helmar 450.

I hope you enjoyed my little project today!  I'm super excited to hang this in our front entry for the Fall! That quote is absolutely perfect for my house full of boys!

The Will of the Wind

A little boys will is the will of the wind,
He'll rough house, tumble and fall.
He loves his trucks and dirt and trees, and
of course that isn't all.

A baseball cap upon his head,
his knees are bruises and scars.
Gim him some dirt and a Tonka truck and he'll
build a bridge to the stars.

Give him a bat and give him a ball and
give him a tree to climb...
A little boys will is the will of the wind
and I'm so glad he's mine!
