Season's Greetings with Cheery Lynn Designs

Happy Monday to you!  It's my day to host the blog over at Cheery Lynn Designs today.

I have a bit of Christmas inspiration to share with you featuring our new release dies "Season's Greetings Ornament" along with the "Dancing Snow Flurries" accents.

I cut the Season's Greetings Ornament from a cereal box, then colored the design using a paintbrush and some color mists. The green circle layer behind it is cut from corrugated paper. to help the design pop a little I used a Scallop Circle cut from vellum behind it.

The Lilith Doily Edger was cut to create a border strip.  I used it on the bottom under the layers and the little bit that I cut off, was folded over to create a tab at the top.

Tip:
I adhered the Season's Greetings Ornament to the vellum using small amounts of Glossy Accents. To then attach the vellum to the green corrugate layer, I flipped over the vellum and touched my Glossy Accents again on the larger areas only of the design.  It worked really well.

I took some inspiration from Julie's recent post to distress the edges of my Poinsettia Strip flowers with a touch of gesso. I loved how it gives a bit of a shabby feel to them.  I also misted them and crumpled them before assembling and adding the gesso. Thank you Julie!

Life is a Journey with Quick Quotes

Happy Thursday crafty friends! I'm excited to share a project over on the Quick Quotes blog today!

My page today features the all new Serendipity collection along with a few embellishments from Calypso and a few bits and pieces of other items from my stash.

Recently our oldest son had Spring photos taken at school.  I just loved how they turned out and wanted to make sure I scrapped it to capture the memories now.

I used some Glass Beads Texture Gel by Liquitex and a mask with some chevrons to start on my page. Some masking with Baja Blue PowderPuff Chalk Ink was done with a circle mesh pattern.  From there I added some splatters with a variety of mists.  A few of them were a bit heavy so I decided to try something I hadn't done before…  drips.

The papers in this collection are so much fun to work with! I love the colors and designs, it really makes creating so much fun and almost effortless!!!

Happiness with Pretty Little Studio

Greetings crafty peeps!

I've got a Pretty Little Studio project to share with you today. By the way, did you know we have an all new blog address? Be sure to update your links if you haven't already, you wouldn't want to miss out on any of the fun or inspiration!

This is the fun sketch by the lovely Keri Babbitt that I used:
I loved the white space here and really wanted to maintain it.

Here's my take on the sketch using the Neapolitan collection:

Don't you just love that Flair?!!!  I sure do!

I took this fun photo of the boys right before they left for their first day of school this fall. This vintage die cut called "Daniel" of the boy taking off with his plane reminded me of them taking flight to a new chapter and felt like the perfect fit.

What a fun and happy collection! We can't wait to see your interpretation of the sketch!!!

Pretty Little Studio Ingredients:
Banner Flag

Other:  Cardstock by Core'dinations, Award Seal die by MFT, Chipboard Arrows by AC, Mask by Heidi Swapp, Tahiti PowderPuff Chalk Ink by Quick Quotes, Enamel Dots by MME and Teresa Collins, Sentiment Sticker by Jillibean Soup and date stamp by Staples.

Thanks so much for stopping on over today!  Be sure to play along with us for your chance to win a $5 gift certificate to the Pretty Little Studio Shop.

School Zone with Moxxie

Sunday greetings to you!

It's not often that I post on a Sunday but today is my day over on the Moxxie blog.  We are so spoiled and get to select certain lines that we might want to work with and one of them that I knew I wanted is called School Zone.

It's perfect for creating a Pre-K - Graduation album for your kids. I knew that I wanted to do this and made sure to pick up extra sheets and stickers all at once so I have lots to choose from.

Our oldest just graduated Pre-School and is heading to Kindergarten this fall.  I plan to capture all of the special things along the way and include them in a recap of the school year in his book.

Here is the kick off with his Pre-School graduation page:

I don't know if you're like me, but sometimes I can get "stuck" on special pages. Today I decided to just dive in -- feel the moment in the photo and capture exactly what it was, right then, in that place.

The circles of time, the changes in direction, the shift of the photo...  it's all emotion. Strange how that comes right out. It was fun to play with this collection, adding a few tidbits of my own into the mix and really focus in on the photo.

Here is a detail shot so you can see some of the stickers that I used here along with an Epiphany Crafts Epoxy Round 25 to highlight a handprint for a "High 5!" The handprints are on the reverse of this PreSchool paper.

Moxxie Ingredients:
School Zone Collection (Stickers, Rub-Ons and Papers) - Moxxie
Chillin' Out Collection (Stickers and Papers) - Moxxie

If you have a school age child or need to create a school years book, you definitely want to ask your LSS to bring this collection in.  It's seriously fantastic!

Have a fabulous weekend!

April Club Q Inspiration

Happy Tuesday crafty friends! I'm up today hosting the Quick Quotes blog.

I have a page to share with you that was created with the April Club Q kit. Did you know that our Club Q members get the very newest papers to work with? It's true! These kits featured a new paper collection called "North Woods". The colors are so rich and beautiful!

I was inspired to use a photo that I had taken with my friend who introduced me to scrapbooking. We were cropping last fall and they snapped this photo of us. We don't have a lot of photos of us together, and these papers felt perfect for it. I printed a few black and white zoomed areas of the same photo and mixed them in with the one full color image for a focal point.

Technique:  I used some Biscotti PowderPuff Chalk Ink and stamped with a clock face stamp onto my ivory flowers that came with the kit.  A bit of Baja Blue inked over the top of my "Inspiration" script title helped give a bit of a colorful pop.  I also added some aqua bling to dot my "i"'s.

Here I  used a small scrap piece of the vellum to slip under the window in the scalloped circular "pie" embellishment.  When I started this page, I took the large framed die cut and cut apart the frame from the three circles.  I then layered my photos and the vining over the top of the circular anchor.  I just love the flourishes that were in this months kit!

The relief frame is used vertically and layered on top of the brown patterned paper.  By doing this, I was able to get a totally different look from the elements!  I also love to use my scraps for extra die cuts that I added in such as the leaves, butterflies and the 2 little flowers you see.

Ingredients:
April Club Q Kit (Papers, Brads Ribbon and Vellum)
PowderPuff Chalk Inks:  Java, Baja Blue and Biscotti
Small Exotic Butterflies #2 - Cheery Lynn Designs
Darling Daisies - Cheery Lynn Designs
Small Flourish - Memory Box
Clock Stamp - Heidi Swapp
Scallop Flower Punch - Fiskars
Frond, Rose Leaf and Deco Corner Punches - Martha Stewart
Pearls and Bling - Want2Scrap
Flair - Fancy Pants
Enamel Dots - MME

Thank you so much for stopping on over today!  Enjoy the last day of April!!!

Going the Distance

Happy Wednesday crafty friends.

I created this page earlier this month and wanted to share it, but with the events in Boston, my heart was broken and it just was not the right time. My thoughts and prayers go out to every person affected by the senseless tragedies in Boston and also in West, Texas.

Today I feel like we are coming together and standing united against terrorism in our great country.  We will go the distance and let justice prevail.  Ironically, this collection I am showcasing today is named "Go the Distance".  I find some peace and inspiration in that and I hope that you will too.

This page is all about our "little athletes".  These guys seriously run, play and are just flat out competitive, all the time. They come by it naturally as their Dad loves to run, which completely inspired the title work.

Details...
I used a Memory Box die for the squiggly zig zag.

The white chevron background and orange "on your mark, get set GO" were cut with my Silhouette Cameo.

I added some Epiphany Crafts Star 25 epoxies and one of Heidi Swapp's sequin gray stars.  The corrugate arrow is Jillibean Soup and I swiped it with Coal Miner PowderPuff Chalk Ink by Quick Quotes.  The base orange paper used here is from the Moxxie "Fish Stories" collection.  The underline bling is from Want2Scrap.  The flair here is from Fancy Pants.

I love all of the fun die cuts and stickers that Moxxie has with their collections, it really makes putting your page together so simple and fast!  I like to cut them apart and make them look entirely different.

Thanks so much for stopping on over today!  Have a super scrappity day!!!

The project started with this base album cut from kraft card stock:

The default size of this album allows for 4x6 photos.  It includes the base cut for each page as well.  I love that you can make this album bigger if you like or customize the page counts to your design.  The tags that were added for journaling are from K and Company tag stacks that I had in complementary colors.  I've used the Spellbinders pinking edge square dies for photo mats.

Moxxie's papers, die cuts and stickers make putting together a mini album a very simple process.  This album was completed in an evening. I just love the sweet homespun feel of it! Now all I have to do are print out some of my favorite Easter gathering photos this year and pop them in!
