Just For Fun with Clique Kits!

Happy Monday to you!

It's been a fun weekend for the most part with all kinds of National Scrapbooking excitement and sharing going on everywhere. I was fortunate to get a day away to enjoy myself on Saturday which was such a wonderful treat!

I worked on a few projects for my June commitments, so I can't share any of those projects yet.

Today I ended up at home with a sick child, so while he was napping, I was able to create a few projects to play along with the Clique Kits National Scrapbooking Day Online Crop.

The first challenge I chose was a cards with layers challenge.  I used the Clique Kits National Scrapbooking Day Kit that I had ordered for this. The die cut elements and the gold accents are really fresh and fun.

The next challenge that I chose was a stitching one hosted by Marcia.

I was working on these projects while my son was resting so I decided for this page that I would just do a few hand stitches. Notice the page corner at the top is just part of a leftover embellishment from my card.

This is a really super clean and simple design for me, but I decided I wanted to just sit at the table with the kit in hand and my photo and just put it together. I gave myself 45 minutes.

One of the other challenges that inspired my page was to scrap in a grid style which I don't typically do, but that's the point of challenges, get you out of your comfort zone and try things.  : )

Thanks so much for stopping on over!  Have a super scrappity day!

Masculine Valentine's Inspiration

Happy Monday crafty friends!  It's my day to share my project with you on the Cheery Lynn Designs blog.

I thought I would challenge myself to create a masculine Valentine's card without including a heart in the design. Here's what I came up with:

"Always" (A2 size card)

I started with the Fiona's Magic Mirror frame, then added in a Rectangle Horizon Boutique Stacker Frame in red, some Chicken Wire which I cut into my own shape and layered on.

The hinges are cut from a scrap piece of cereal box chipboard.  I then inked them with some dark brown chalk ink and then added a bit of Viva Decor Paint in copper with a pin to each of the nail holes. You can also punch these pieces out, but I left them in place for texture.

On the upper left you'll see some Wheat Heads and a Tiny Fanciful Flourish, on the bottom right, two Miniature Roses with Olive Branches beneath.

Cheery Lynn Designs dies used:

Other Products:
Blissful Blizzard collection - Fancy Pants
Tiny Flair - Studio Calico
Viva Decor Paint - Copper
String (loaned from my friend Monica)
Coal Miner and Java PowderPuff Chalk Inks - Quick Quotes

Did you have a chance to see our latest challenge?  It's all about framing in your project. Check out all of the details here for your chance to win a $20 gift certificate to the Cheery Lynn Designs online store!

Potluck Inspiration!

Monday Greetings to you!

I have a project to share that I like to affectionately call "Potluck Inspiration".  So, the recipe for this is...  take several leftover items that share common tone qualities.  Mix it up and layer them all together in bits and pieces using a bit of Inspiration that has captured your eye or heart.

My project is a combination of five unrelated lines from Moxxie;  "Road to Recovery", "At The Beach","Wee Ones", "Hockey" and the "Mini Diecut Cardstock - Tropical".

The starting point for my project today is an absolutely amazing inspiration of a page by Cathy Harper.

This is Cathy's awesome page..  just check this out:

This is my creation:

Some details... Chevron and Cloud cut from "Wee Ones" collection.

I loved how the flair worked with my Chic Tag here!
The circle tab under the left photo is the double circles sticker border from "At the Beach".

This was a really fun project, I love how well the "Road to Recovery" line coordinated with the grey colors in the "Wee Ones" collection.  The aqua and blue tones really played nicely with each other.  I played on the orange a bit and thought it would be interesting to pop the colorful flourish on top for an unexpected color.

Did you notice that my background paper is from our Hockey line?  Yep, it's hockey sticks.  I tried to mix it up so it looks more like X's and O's on here.  ; )

Ingredients:
Pattern Papers, Die Cuts and Stickers - Moxxie
Flair - Fancy Pants
Enamel Dots - MME
Mini Stickers - Amy Tangerine for AC
Memory Box Die
Chipboard Arrow - Heidi Swapp
Circle Tag - Chic Tags
PowderPuff Chalk Ink - Coal Miner

Thank you so much for stopping on over today!  Have a super scrappity day!

Going the Distance

Happy Wednesday crafty friends.

I created this page earlier this month and wanted to share it, but with the events in Boston, my heart was broken and it just was not the right time. My thoughts and prayers go out to every person affected by the senseless tragedies in Boston and also in West, Texas.

Today I feel like we are coming together and standing united against terrorism in our great country.  We will go the distance and let justice prevail.  Ironically, this collection I am showcasing today is named "Go the Distance".  I find some peace and inspiration in that and I hope that you will too.

This page is all about our "little athletes".  These guys seriously run, play and are just flat out competitive, all the time. They come by it naturally as their Dad loves to run, which completely inspired the title work.

Details...
I used a Memory Box die for the squiggly zig zag.

The white chevron background and orange "on your mark, get set GO" were cut with my Silhouette Cameo.

I added some Epiphany Crafts Star 25 epoxies and one of Heidi Swapp's sequin gray stars.  The corrugate arrow is Jillibean Soup and I swiped it with Coal Miner PowderPuff Chalk Ink by Quick Quotes.  The base orange paper used here is from the Moxxie "Fish Stories" collection.  The underline bling is from Want2Scrap.  The flair here is from Fancy Pants.

I love all of the fun die cuts and stickers that Moxxie has with their collections, it really makes putting your page together so simple and fast!  I like to cut them apart and make them look entirely different.

Thanks so much for stopping on over today!  Have a super scrappity day!!!

Final Reveal for Cardabilities

Happy Wednesday to you!

April is just around the corner and the snow is almost all melted in our front yard.  Our three year old was screaming and running all over the house that "Spring was coming!!!  The snow is MELTING!!!".    So cute!  You know that enthusiasm is all about getting back outside and to the park.

Today is the 30th and that means it's time for a Cardabilities reveal.  This is my final reveal for my term, it's so funny how fast time flies!  Karan creates some amazing and inspirational sketches, here is our sketch #28:
I have a few lines of papers that would work perfectly for this sketch and was so excited about the gears!  I love creating masculine cards!  Obviously you could substitute florals or shapes for them, but I wanted to be true to the sketch because I loved the design.
These are Dream Street papers, some Little Yellow Bicycle gear overlays and the ball trim is Fancy Pants.  I just dug into all of my bits and pieces of my stash and had fun!

I want to say a heartfelt thank you to Karan Gerber for giving me the opportunity to design for her at Cardabilities!  What a fun and fabulous team to be a part of!!!  The inspiration is really so incredible.

If you are inspired and play along with the sketch, please be sure to share!  We would love to see your creation and stop by to leave you some blog love.  Please also join me in welcoming the new design team on April 15th -- can't wait to see what they create!

Have a super scrappity day!!!

Road Show - Oh Joy!!!

Happy Saturday greetings to you!

I recently had the pleasure of getting to work with the Fancy Pants Road Show line and let me tell you, it is pure bliss! The papers are so versatile for most any subject and transcend gender and theme to fit wherever you need them to! Check out the Thoughts 2 Paper Store to see more of the papers!

Without further ado, here is my creation using one of my favorite wedding photos in black and white. It is of my hubby and I after seeing each other for the first time on our wedding day.

The Fancy Pants Road Show 5x8 Notebook Journal pad provided me with the perfect spot to journal my reflections of what that photo reminds me of. To create the flower, I used the acrylic flocked sheet that comes in the pack and punched a variety of circles, then used my heat gun to warp them. I did the same with some white tulle and melted the edges to give a little dimension and curl, then secured all the pieces together with one of Tim Holtz's hitches.

I had some acrylic shapes in my stash from Fancy Pants and I thought the heart was perfect to layer on here, so I dry brushed some liquid pearls on the back in platinum, then added some to the journaling spot too.

Once I finished with my border punches and with my ribbon trims (the grey elegant one is Fancy Pants Road Show of course!), I used some bead garland that I had found at Michael's on clearance a while back. It seemed like the perfect accessory on that heart, then a few I-Rock gems on the flourishes helped to finish off this page.

Thoughts2Paper Store featured items: Fancy Pants Road Show package kit, Road Show 5x8 Notebook Journal.

Ingredients: Tim Holtz Gear, Bead Garland, Tiny Butterfly Punch, EK Success, Monarch Butterfly Punch, Martha Stewart, Scallop Border Punches, Martha Stewart, Silver Shimmer Organza Ribbon, White Tulle, I-Rock gems, Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher, Weathered Wood Distress Ink, Heat Gun, Martha Stewart Rose Leaf Punch, Road Show Sentiment and Ribbon, Fancy Pants Acrylic Heart, Black Cardstock, Helmar 450, Glue Dots, Making Memories Love Charm and thread.

Thanks for spending a moment with me!  I hope you have a super fabulous scrappity weekend!!!
