Designer's Challenge for Imaginisce

Happy Friday crafty peeps!!!

It's a fun filled couple of weeks over at Imaginisce!  The designers were challenged to create a project using a special recipe...
  • Must create a shaped project, no circles or rectangles
  • Must include a smidge of orange
  • Must include three patterned papers

I was so inspired by this challenge, I just love shaped cards!  I found this cute design in the Silhouette store and knew I wanted to make some of these little bird cards!

There are a few friends of mine who are expecting right now so I thought how cute it would be to create a baby card!  I started with the Makin' Waves collection and used the blue chevron pattern paper as my base.  I added a smidge of orange in the wing and my favorite silver tear shaped gems for accent.  A bit of baker's twine for hair was my finishing touch.

After I created him, I figured he needed a friend so I created the pink girl themed card next.  : )

I used a bit of pink baker's twine with her wing.

I thought these also work nicely for the holidays, so I created a few more using our Christmas Cheer collection.  A bit of orange is layered into their wings.

It's time for a brand new challenge over at Imaginisce and this month it is FUN!  Check this recipe out:

2 Patterned Papers
2 Embellishments
2 Photos
Include a Chevron

Want to see what I did?  Here we go!

===========

Surf's Up! (12 x 12 layout)
The chevron background was cut using my Silhouette.

Do you see my second photo?  I'll give you a hint...

I had a nice amount "white space" in the upper portion of my photo.  For my 2nd photo, I created a copy of just the water portion and using PicMonkey, added my journaling on top of the water, saved and printed.  I then cut the photo journaling into strips.

I layered my main photo under the chevron cut and stitched it for some texture.  The wavy water paper was cut and layered as well.

Ingredients: Makin' Waves papers (2 pattern), Makin' Waves Sun Kissed Die Cuts (2), Foam Tape by Imaginisce, White and Blue Cardstock by AC, Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink, Silhouette, Sewing Machine and Thread

So come on -- grab your favorite Imaginisce goodies and find 2 pattern papers, 2 embellishments and play along with us!  We know you have 2 photos, and the chevron's are everywhere!!!

Have a super scrappity Monday!!!

Everyday Inspiration with Imaginisce!

Greetings!

Today I have a cool post and fun project for you.  We were challenged over at Imaginisce to create a project from everyday inspiration.  Hmmmm...  What a fun idea!  I had done this only once before and it was really by accident, not a formal 'challenge'.

So, for my everyday inspiration, I selected the children's book The Very Hungry Caterpillar.  Currently it's a big favorite of the little guy who is 3.  In looking at the cover, I saw our i-Top 2.0 and brad daddies come to life with a variety of cool paper colors.

Here is my project:

Let's start with my Sun...

The yellow Makin' Waves paper was used, and I stamped the center of the Sun Snag' Em Stamp on it.  A 28mm i-Top punch was used to punch the shape.  Next, I used my d-Stress tool to give the edges a bit of wear and texture. I then used a circle die to give my sun the relief area so I could feature the "HI" letters in my alphabet strip.

Every caterpillar needs a set of antennae and to create mine, I use one of my favorite tools, the Fabric Petal Roller.  Simply use this tool with either florist wire or fine gauge jewelry wire and creating antennae for your butterflies or creatures is a breeze! I use this tool all the time!!!

I finished Mr. Caterpillar off with my i-Rock and silver tear glam rocks for feet.

What have you seen today that inspires you?  Sometimes the simplest things can trigger inspiration!  With the tools from Imaginisce, my inspiration really comes to life!  Be sure to stop on by the Imaginisce blog all week long for fabulous inspiration from the Design Team.

Trust me, you do NOT want to miss a day!

If you haven't had the pleasure of seeing the adorable embellishments from My Little Bit Of Whimsy you need to take a little time to join us on the hop.  There really isn't anything else out there like these buttons, stick pins and embellishments --- you will love them!!!  I have two projects to share with you today.

Best Friends Forever... featuring Sole Sisters
How adorable is that ladybug?  *swoon*!!!

I've also used the yellow rose button and the black chevron button is on the top and bottom of my tag.  The red tag is actually upcycled from some Sole Sisters packaging.  Love when I can do that!!!  The butterfly was cut from a Cheery Lynn Designs butterfly die.

I Dig You!...  featuring Makin' Waves
I really also love the Whimsy itty bitty bird stick pins and you all know how much I absolutely dig the Keepin' Cool pattern paper from the Makin' Waves line!!!  When I found my pail die cut embellie I knew what I wanted to do with it!

The beautiful green and orange reversible dot ribbon anchoring the sentiment is from May Arts and was cut using the new i-Magicut ribbon cutter.  psst... This fun tool is one of the prizes for the hop!!!

The chipboard circle here is from the Sole Sisters collection.  I used some of our foam tape to give a bit of dimension and create a sort of porthole.  My crinkle ribbon tails are tacked down with my Pogo glue dots.  The stamp is from A Jillian Vance Designs and their "Down on the Farm" collection.  I was tickled to find this little gem as it totally made the card come together.  Fun!

Your next stop on the hop is the fabulous Zoe Nemburt!

My project:  "Sun Kissed" A2 card using the Makin' Waves line.
I cut a flower border using Cheery Lynn Designs die and used coordinating colors of the twine to create the floral buds.  A needle threading tool was used to assist in getting the twine through nicely. This was then adhered with foam tape squares.

I tied some twine around the surfboard as well.  To play on the sentiment, I cut an extra fish and had a little fishy kissing going on with the help of my i-Rock and one of our fabulous heart studs.  I love those!  A little aqua hot rock was added to one of my spare flowers and added to the chipboard sentiment.  The water themed paper I folded a bit for some added dimension.

The play of orange off of the bright turquoise blue and all of the fun colors in this line still make me happy just looking at it!

Introducing the All New... i-Magicut!

Meet i-Magicut!
This new tool from Imaginisce is so innovative and utterly COOL, I can't even begin to tell you how much you are going to love it!  Do you ever get so frustrated with how the edges of your ribbon fray when you work with it?  This is the answer!  The design is fantastic, it's battery operated so you can easily bring it with you to crops.

"Honeymoon Dreams"

I decided to use our new Makin' Waves collection for my project with an empty acrylic flower bucket.  Upcycling this acrylic bucket has been on my list for awhile but I wanted the project to be special.

I've had these shells from our honeymoon in Hawaii sitting in a drawer and wanted to find them a home.  A sand bucket seemed the perfect idea!  There is such a great tropical vibe to the Makin' Waves line, it was a natural fit for this!

This rock from the beach had a hole through it and I just love it!

The photo was matted from the back of my bucket.  Then, I mounted my photo inside of the bucket and from there, added the sand and shells.  For additional texture I included a bit of fish netting and scraps of clear bead garland to represent the ocean.

I wanted a light and sweet feel of ribbon on here so I used a lot of organza.  i-Magicut does an amazing job of creating the perfect sealed edge on the ribbons!

You definitely want to make sure you visit the Imaginisce blog today and leave a comment!  They are giving away one of these fabulous tools to a lucky person -- it could be YOU!

Thanks so much for stopping on over today!  Have a super scrappity day!

Makin' Waves Release Party!

Happy Monday to you!

We're so excited this week to release our latest line over at Imaginisce!  It's called Makin' Waves and you're going to love the colors!!!

Last summer we enjoyed a little pool time at my sister-in-law's home and it was a really fun time to take a few photos.  I love the bright orange mats in contrast with the blue water and yellow of the float.

"Fun Makin' Waves!!!" (12x12 layout)

To bring a little motion and attention to the wavy pattern of the fish pattern paper, I stitched and left tails along the way.

I added some bling with my i-Rock on the umbrella, in the sun of my Hot Summer Day chipboard and a few sprinkled accents down in the water too.  Don't you love those Cheery Lynn Designs doilies here?  I thought they were awesome!

To create my little scuba boy tag, I used my little Martha Stewart mini tag punch.  I thought he was so cute!!!

Thanks to Becky Fleck for the inpiration of one of her March sketches for this!!!

----------

My next project is a fun card with an encouraging sentiment.  I thought so anyway...  lol!

"Keep On Swimmin" (A2 Card)

Some details:
The waves are hand cut from cardstock and I pressure embossed them.

The i-Rock, hot rocks and silver tears were used to accent the fish, crab eyes, and waves and bubbles.  I also used one of my i-Top punches to give a bit more "wave" simulation.
