Weekend Greetings & A Digital Page

Happy weekend to you!

My sincere apologies for the quiet blog here.  We have had a few speed bumps lately requiring my attention at home.  Lots of illness with the kids throughout March and on into April.  We learned quite a bit about hospitals and the healthcare system.  Let's hope that all of that is finally behind us now and that 2013 has much more fun in store for us!!!

How is the weather where you are at?  You would think by mid-April we would be basking in Springtime bliss. Unfortunately, here in Minnesota, our boys made a snowman yesterday.  Yes, a snowman.  I'll be honest...  I want to see green grass, in a bad Spring fever kind of way.

To perk myself up I decided to play with some digital scrapbooking. Want to see what I whipped up?  I used the MyMemories software and Samantha Walker's AtoZ collection which you can swoop up over at Jessica Sprague.

The software is pretty intuitive and easy to use.  I love to layer and cluster embellishments so this was pretty fun to do!  Not too terrible for my second ever attempt at digi scrapping!

I decided to capture our son's current fascination with "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle's".  He absolutely loves to draw them and has a collection of all his drawings.  This was the first one that he had created with all of the turtles together.  I love how much he loves to draw and create!

I hope you have a super scrappity weekend!  I've been busy creating and have a few fun things to share with you very soon... so stay tuned!!!

Designer's Challenge for Imaginisce

Happy Friday crafty peeps!!!

It's a fun filled couple of weeks over at Imaginisce!  The designers were challenged to create a project using a special recipe...
  • Must create a shaped project, no circles or rectangles
  • Must include a smidge of orange
  • Must include three patterned papers

I was so inspired by this challenge, I just love shaped cards!  I found this cute design in the Silhouette store and knew I wanted to make some of these little bird cards!

There are a few friends of mine who are expecting right now so I thought how cute it would be to create a baby card!  I started with the Makin' Waves collection and used the blue chevron pattern paper as my base.  I added a smidge of orange in the wing and my favorite silver tear shaped gems for accent.  A bit of baker's twine for hair was my finishing touch.

After I created him, I figured he needed a friend so I created the pink girl themed card next.  : )

I used a bit of pink baker's twine with her wing.

I thought these also work nicely for the holidays, so I created a few more using our Christmas Cheer collection.  A bit of orange is layered into their wings.

Guest Designing for Samantha Walker!

Crafty greetings to you today!

I'm beyond honored to have been asked to Guest Design for Samantha Walker!  Her designs and style are fabulous and always a feast for the eyes!!!

I used the A to Z Mega Pack digital collection for this project and had so much fun with it!  First, I started with the linen pattern papers, then I selected some flash cards and then tags and journaling pieces.  The possibilities are endless when you have such a variety at your fingertips.

Shhhh...  here's a confession for you!  I've never before had the pleasure of creating a hybrid design - this was a fabulous experience.  I knew the series of photos that I wanted to use and that was the inspiration for my page.

There's something so fun about a series of action images to me.  It's all about discovery and all of the different activities with my two boys (ages 4 and 3) these days.  Their latest infatuation is soccer.  They just love to run and kick the ball and play back and forth.  I'm so glad to have caught some of these moments in pictures!

I did mix in a little bit of cardstock for my project, but most of what you see here is printed from my digi kit and then cut and arranged.  The extra bonus in this?  If you flub ...err ahem "change your mind" on your journaling... just print a new one or add text to it and print again.  Awesome perk if you ask me!  I did go with my handwriting this go around, just to show how you can't really even tell this is hybrid.

You'll find a few of the Samantha Walker Spellbinders used in my project.  The bird and blue wavy bracket are from Cuckoo Clock and the leaves and red bracket are from her Orchard Harvest Tags and Accents collection.  They add so much to your pages!!!

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day!

Today we take time to pay tribute to that special Mom in our life!  We honor you and thank you for being so very special to us!  For those of us who celebrate the memories of our loved ones, my heartfelt wishes to you that the memories are warm and bring you comfort.

---------

Today I have some Quick Quotes card inspiration for you.

I've mixed our One Fine Day, Dreamscape and Miss Morgan collections.
I started by using the Labels Fourteen to cut my vellum sentiment and also the backing for it.  I created the shadow layer by tracing the outer part of the die with pencil, then cut it out with my scissors for the yellow layer.

The scallop border here is a strip of plain vellum that I die cut and inked with Purple Passion and Tahiti PowderPuff Chalk Inks.  I inked on the back side and allowed to dry.  I love how it softly coordinates, yet still has a little variation of tone.

To finish it off, I created a paper bow and added the bird.
