A Bit of Spring with Cheery Lynn Designs

Happy Monday to you!  It's my day to share a project over on the Cheery Lynn Designs blog today.

I decided to go with a bit of a Spring theme for my project. The yellow reminds me of sunshine and I wanted to see the effect of some ombre papers in a few die cuts.

"Hello" (A2 sized card)

I used my Fancy Corner Cuts 4 for the pretty details on the upper corners of my yellow base layer. Next, I added the Polynesian Sails Oval doily, topped by a medium Horizon Boutique Oval Stacker Frame in a wood grain pattern paper.  This final layer was adhered with foam dimensional squares.

The Shasta Daisy and my Dainty Bows were cut from ombre paper. The Victorian Romance Flourish was cut apart and tucked under my flower, then I added a Mini Butterfly with Angel Wing on the upper right of it. A few gems and Stickles give the butterfly a little sparkle. The Tiny Fanciful Flourish is cut from a glassine bag.

Cheery Lynn Designs dies used:

Other Products used:
Modern Miss pattern papers - BoBunny

Happy Saturday to you!

I have a fun project to share today that features the newer Little Yellow Bicycle line called "Just Because".  It also features some of their new "Naturals" embellishments that you can now find at Michael's and I believe Joann's too.

This is one of my favorite photos of our youngest during the summer last year and it coordinated with this line perfectly!

The white naturals flower matched this pattern paper perfectly!
I added a glassine bag with some confetti hearts.

This little bluebird is so cute!

I layered Mr. Bluebird on a feather sticker and chipboard cloud.

Ingredients:
Just Because Collection - Little Yellow Bicycle
Naturals (Packaging, Flower and Bird) - Little Yellow Bicycle

Pot Luck Creativity!

Sunday greetings crafty friends!

I'm here today to share with you what I'll call my "pot luck" card.  : )  You know the kind...  you've been creating a storm with several of your favorite things and look around and get a bit of inspiration!  You grab a bit of this and a bit of that and voila~!

Our featured product at Quick Quotes this month is vellum and I took one of my 'Sentiments' Itty Bitty Vellum Quotes, did some muted chalk inking on the back to soften the look.  I also had a scrap piece of music pattern acrylic that I layered behind it.  It gives a bit of romantic flair to the feel.

The papers used here are from Dreamscape, Miss Morgan, One Fine Day, and French Quarter.  I added a flower by Petaloo and some Little Yellow Bicycle heart stick pins.  The crinkle ribbon, bow and button were my finishing touches.

PowderPuff Chalk Inks used:  Biscotti and Blue Moon.  Spellbinders Romantic Rectangles dies were used for the sentiment block and on my vellum.  Cheery Lynn Designs dies used for the leaves and flourishes.

I hope you try a little "pot luck" creating in your crafty space too!

Little Yellow Bicycle - Cycling Team Post!

Happy Friday to you!  Are there any sweeter words?!!!

Do you recall my post a bit ago about making the first Cycling Team over at Little Yellow Bicycle?  Well, I'm over the moon excited to share with you the project that I created for it today!

I received the stunning "Head of the Class" collection to design with.  I absolutely love this collection! The bright fun colors of the papers and classic design made this such a joy to work with!!!  Without further delay, allow me to introduce you to "Spare Me!":
The moment I saw the fun diamond shaped pattern paper with the number "10" in the headpin position, I knew I was going to turn this collection into a bowling page! I always enjoy looking beyond the intent of a collection and try to use it in a different or unusual way.
For my project I had a series of three photos, but I didn't really want to crop them too much to compromise their composition. The solution: Create a built in flip book built on the page. It was very simple, I just stitched the left side down. (Ok, I'll be honest, I had to help my sewing machine a bit as it went through all of those layers, but it was worth it!)  The bottom photo was attached leaving a pocket to tuck in my Good Job journaling spot.

I hand stitched a few circles on the background paper to mimic the feel of the bowling ball action.  Here's an angle so you can see the dimension and texture a little better:
Keeping my banner theme for the page, I added a few horizontal banners into the main photo mat. I created a few custom star buttons using the papers and my Epiphany Crafts Shape Studio Star 25 tool.  For my bowling ball and pin, I used my Cricut Expression 2 and the Nifty Fifties cartridge. A little glossy accents on the bowling ball was the finishing touch.
I really love all of the fun embellishments in this collection!  They look so fabulous layered as a collage!!!  The star stick pin also worked just perfectly tucked into the stitching of my flip book.  I combined some of the clear cuts shapes and journaling spots behind my pin for that extra "pow".

Thanks so much for coming along with me for a little cycling tour of my Spare Me! page today!  A very special thank you going out to Little Yellow Bicycle for the privilege and honor of designing for you.

Be sure to stop on over to their blog for more inspiration from my talented teammates on the Cycling Team!

Have a super scrappity day!
~ Rhonda

p.s.  I've got another fun project planned for this collection.  Stay tuned!!!

Just for Fun!

Every once in awhile I like to dig into a challenge or project just for the fun of it.  I hope that you're the same way!

I came across the current challenge for Little Yellow Bicycle and loved the fun sketch by Liz Qualman!  Check it out, what I loved..  multiple photos, but still lots of journaling space and room to play.  Perfect!  Plus, who doesn't totally dig that fun kite?!!!
Here comes the dilemma...  I didn't have any of the lines, but I do have some Twig that has been calling my name for over a couple of months!  I also found some of their Laundry Line and what do you know, it just blended together wonderfully!

This is my interpretation of the sketch.
These are photos of our oldest when he was six months old.  I really thought that tag with "Nurture" on it was just perfect for this mix of photos.  I left additional pocket space behind the photo to tuck away more journaling or a story as well.
I used a couple of Epiphany Crafts Vintage Settings buttons on here in white, and also the round and flower button 20's.  I put a round 14 epoxy in the center of my blue flower for dimension.  Extra details include some stickles on the leaves and in the bird's wing.  I added Glossy Accents to the floral petals and the birds beak and wing.  Some Basic Grey Bling-It rub-ons make an appearance here from my stash.  The trim here is from Little Yellow Bicycle's "Laundry Line".

This was really a fun page to put together!  Thank you to Liz Qualman and to Little Yellow Bicycle for the inspiration!!!

Have a super scrappity weekend!!!

Final Reveal for Cardabilities

Happy Wednesday to you!

April is just around the corner and the snow is almost all melted in our front yard.  Our three year old was screaming and running all over the house that "Spring was coming!!!  The snow is MELTING!!!".    So cute!  You know that enthusiasm is all about getting back outside and to the park.

Today is the 30th and that means it's time for a Cardabilities reveal.  This is my final reveal for my term, it's so funny how fast time flies!  Karan creates some amazing and inspirational sketches, here is our sketch #28:
I have a few lines of papers that would work perfectly for this sketch and was so excited about the gears!  I love creating masculine cards!  Obviously you could substitute florals or shapes for them, but I wanted to be true to the sketch because I loved the design.
These are Dream Street papers, some Little Yellow Bicycle gear overlays and the ball trim is Fancy Pants.  I just dug into all of my bits and pieces of my stash and had fun!

I want to say a heartfelt thank you to Karan Gerber for giving me the opportunity to design for her at Cardabilities!  What a fun and fabulous team to be a part of!!!  The inspiration is really so incredible.

If you are inspired and play along with the sketch, please be sure to share!  We would love to see your creation and stop by to leave you some blog love.  Please also join me in welcoming the new design team on April 15th -- can't wait to see what they create!

Have a super scrappity day!!!

Greetings!

I'm back home from CHA and am so excited to share with you the latest reveal for Cardabilities!  Shaped cards are so much fun and this fun sketch is just so fabulous!

Here is my take on the sketch using Little Yellow Bicycle's "Clothesline" line.  Aren't the colors and embellishments of this line so much fun?  I think so!  My favorites are the the epoxy buttons, chipboard and the tape measure paper.

Thanks so much for stopping on over and spending a moment with me.  We can't wait to see what you do with the sketch, please share your creations via Mr. Linky at Cardabilities!

A Big Thank You!

It's hard to believe that it is time to reveal my final projects for Life Preserver's using the June alternate kit.

I wanted to take a moment and say a very big heartfelt Thank You to Life Preserver's for allowing me the honor and pleasure of designing with their beautiful kits!   Your kindness and generosity are appreciated more than words can say.

After looking at these papers I felt like this one particular photo was going to be just perfect to play with!  My husband in one of his ever many daredevil moments!  I had never attempted a mosaic before so I decided this was the perfect opportunity!
The kit has so many fun extras in it from Little Yellow Bicycle, I just love the transparencies!  I found the coordinating epoxy stickers at my LSS garage sale for a whole $1.  I was in the midst of this and thought the numbers were perfect for the jump countdown!  I zig-zag stitched on the exclamation mark.  The non kit items on here:  Tag, brads, gears, mini alphas and packaging.

Some dimension details:

I saw this sentiment in the kit and just knew I had to use it!  I could not resist!!!  So I decided to get a little funky and grungy with it.

Dude, this cracks me up!  I used ric-rak and a little strip of tiny paper pleated with my staples for some dude appeal.  I found the scored star technique over on the GCD Studio's and had to give it a try.  What fun!

Thank you so much for stopping on over and spending a moment.
Have a super scrappity day!!!

All Star Catch!

I don't know about you, but I'm not what you would call a fast or quick scrapper.  It isn't very often when a project just comes together for me rapidly, but when it does boy is it a great feeling!  That is what happened when I started working with my June alternate kit from Life Preserver's.  It has these amazing Paper Loft "Dude" papers and coordinating embellishments from Little Yellow Bicycle.

When I saw these fun papers I had several photos in mind that I thought would be just perfect for the men in my life.  Here are a few recent favorite snapshots of our oldest son playing catch with Daddy.  I also had to add in my Tim Holtz filmstrip ribbon that I'd been dying to use.  Hint...   Helmar's Gemstone Glue is absolutely perfect to attach this invisibly to your project.

I also used this project for my final challenge which I call "All Mixed Up".  Use a non-alpha in your title and mix fonts to create interest.

Another angle so you can see the "ribbon" effect.  I took inspiration from my girl Jodi and created the cardboard star, painted it with some Memory Makers evergreen, then wrapped it up in floral wire and then pop dotted it for some fun dimension.

The buttons I used on here are from a recent find at Tuesday Morning.  I totally scored and some of the buttons just worked with the color scheme in this line perfectly!

I hope you are having a super scrappity weekend and thank you so much for stopping on over!

ScrapFit Workout #22: Fans, Fans, Everywhere There are Fans!

“Fans, Fans, Everywhere There are Fans!"  is the title of the next workout over at Scrapfit!  For this workout, we wnat to see your fans/peeps/friends.  Create a project with 5-10 pictures in it.
Part of my scrappy New Year's resolutions was to finish my unfinished projects and use stash.  I started on this fun Halloween mini album back in the fall and it just needed a little more love to be "finished".   The album and papers are from Little Yellow Bicycle.

This challenge is perfect for those fun action photos, or to push you to complete a mini that is in process, whatever works for you!  I can't wait to see what you do!!!
