ScrapTownLady - Place In Time Calendar Club

Scraptownlady.com is thrilled to announce that Designer Rhonda Van Ginkel will post her first project using the "Place In Time" papers from Graphic 45 today!
  • To kick off the monthly club, if you purchase either the 12x12 paper pad or 8x8 paper pad between today, 5/24 and next Friday by 11:59pm CST, you will be entered into a drawing* for (2) Free Embellishment items from the collection of your choice.
  • A random number generator will be used from Random.org for the drawing.
  • Each month Rhonda will post a new layout or project using the collection. She is starting with June and it will continue from that point on to July, etc.
  • That gives you one whole month to complete your project.
  • FYI - The 8x8 pad makes wonderful cards also.
This collection is awesome. You will see how she adds dimensions and texture to the layout using different dies she has in her personal die collection that are also available from Scraptownlady.com store. These pages can also be used as a monthly scrapbook page and also add a photo or so to your calendar page.

Hurry and purchase your "Place In Time" Collection Pad so you will be entered into the drawing for next week.and also be sure to look at the other coordinating items available that match the collection.

* Sorry, the drawing is only for US entries and addresses. Scraptownlady does not ship outside of the U.S. at this time.

Happy Friday crafty friends!  It's my day to host the ScrapTownLady Blog for a very special event.  I am so very excited to bring this project to you today.  Have you seen the "Place in Time" collection yet from Graphic 45?  It's a gorgeous calendar themed line with endless possibilities!

"June 2013"

To create this page, I used the 12x12 paper pad, using a few pieces of 6x6 pattern paper from "Secret Garden". There is also an 8x8 Place in Time paper pad to choose from if you prefer a smaller scale.  (When selecting the 8x8 scale, some of the chipboard pieces may be a bit large in scale for the design.)

The elements are inked with Walnut Stain Distress Ink.  Some are accented with Broken China Distress Ink or Peeled Paint Distress Ink as noted.
  1. I chose the June Foundation page to begin.
  2. Next. I spent a bit of time cutting out all of my June Cut Aparts page.
  3. Cut apart the Calendar Foundation page, select June and store the remainder.
  4. Number the June Calendar using your favorite black journaling pen.
  5. Find a sentiment on the Sentiments page, cut it out.  I carefully added banner ends to my "Happy Father's Day".
  6. Crumple up the postage stamp strip, then smooth it out.  Tear little notches randomly, then ink the edges with "Walnut Stain" Distress Ink
  7. Cut peach flourish tag shape out, punch hole, tie blue ribbon.
  8. Cut scallop shaped peach floral tag out, cut bottom 1/3 of tag and set aside.
  9. Cut one DL184 Sophia's Heart doily by Cheery Lynn Designs using Secret Garden blue pattern paper. Ink lightly with Broken China Distress Ink. (TIP:  You can also cut out of white card stock, then ink with Broken China Distress Ink for a similar look.)
  10. Cut one B133 Lace Light Deco Border by Cheery Lynn Designs from white card stock, then ink with Broken China Distress Ink.
  11. Cut one set of B118 Pair of Ferns by Cheery Lynn Designs from green card stock, then ink with Shabby Shutters Distress Ink.  (Or cut white card stock, then ink with Peeled Paint, Distress Ink.)
  12. Cut four leaves using B304 Ivy Strip by Cheery Lynn Designs from Secret Garden green pattern paper from 6x6 paper pad.
  13. From Place In Time Tags 1 Chipboard Pack, punch out blue button chipboard shape, square bird chipboard shape and blue flower chipboard from pack.
  14. Ink the button and bird shape edges with Walnut Stain Distress Ink.
  15. Thread button with Brown Hug Snug Ribbon.
  16. Using thread or string, tie Graphic 45 Ornate Metal Key to the button by threading through Brown Hug Snug Ribbon. Cut the tails fairly long so you can tuck them under other elements.
  17. Choose your Metal Butterfly Embellishment and accent Metal Brad.  You could also use some alcohol inks on your butterfly or layer a pretty paper butterfly on top.  I chose to bend the wings just slightly.
  18. Begin the layering process as shown.  I started with my doily, attached it in the middle leaving the other areas open so I could tuck through.
  19. You'll want to add the button and thread through your string tails into the doily and under your calendar before attaching the "Happy Father's Day" sentiment.
  20. The "Happy Father's Day" sentiment was lightly shaped to be wavy, then I used foam squares for dimension.
  21. The Chipboard Button and Bird pieces were also attached with foam squares so it was easy to arrange the Ferns and Ivy Leaves behind them.
  22. After all my pieces were in place was to add the Post Card sticker tag from the Place In Time Stickers sheet.  I cut it an an angle so I could use the bottom piece as a layer on the very top of my doily.  I love to cut apart embellishments to make them go further. : )
  23. I stitched in several areas using my sewing machine zig zag stitch and some straight stitches along the edges.
