Simply Renee: A Day to Remember

Today I have 2 posts, if you are here for the Blog Hop...
please scroll down!

Happy Wednesday to you!

I have to share with you how excited I was to get the upper tier for my ClipItUp Mini!  Do you ever work on a project and just "know" you have that perfect embellishment "somewhere", but then can't find it?  I know that it happens to the best of us, and certainly to me!  One of my favorite go to embellishment manufacturers is of course, Tim Holtz and his entire Idealogy line.

I decided to take these out of the drawer that I had them stored in and put them on my new upper tier so I could find them quickly for my projects. Guess what I discovered in that process... yes, I have a few duplicates... *sheepish grin*. I really love using the ClipItUp Mini base to display my cards, it's a great reminder to send one out!

Earlier this summer I purchased a few different picture frames to have on hand for altered projects.  My cousin is getting married and I wanted to create a pretty frame for the happy couple using their wedding colors, pink and grey.  The fun part about this frame is that the flower on it is actually a recycled decoration from one of our beautifully wrapped wedding gifts!

I had fun stacking the chipboard embellishments on top of one another to create my own custom look.

Ingredients:
  • Frame, Michael's
  • Key and Lock, Tim Holtz Ideaology
  • Papers, embellishments, American Crafts, "I Do", "Dear Lizzy" for the bird
  • Crystal Stick Pins, Maya Road
  • Bird Punch, Stampin Up, Kaiser Pearl for eye
  • Butterfly Punch on flower, Martha Stewart
  • Butterfly Punch on frame, EK Success
  • Distress Inks:  Weathered Wood, Spun Sugar
  • Other:  Thread, ribbons, foam dots
Do you have ideas for how to keep your embellishment collections organized?  We would love to hear your awesome ideas!!!  Be sure to stay tuned for my next Simply Renee post, I have an awesome new ClipItUp product to show you... The Floor Model is here!

Thanks for spending a moment with me today, have a super scrappity week!

Hoppity Hop Hop HOP!!!

Today is a really special day for our Design Team at Thoughts2Paper, it is our very first Blog Hop!!!  You should have arrived to my blog from the ever inspiring Jan

It's back to school time already and you know what that means...  the holidays will be fast upon us!  When we decided to have a Christmas in August event, I knew what I was going to do for my project.  This awesome Kaisercraft Advent Calendar from the Thoughts2Paper store was just the perfect project for me to create for my little boys!
To start, I painted the base coat with Folk Art Christmas Red acrylic paint.  On top of that I added Helmar Crackle Medium 2 step process to give my project an aged effect.  The next step was to assemble the frame, and then start covering and assembling the drawers.  For those steps I used Helmar Craft Glue

The center red background paper on here is My Mind's Eye "So Sophie" and the other papers are Bo Bunny's "A Gift of Love", aren't they fun?  I also added some Graphic 45 little postage stamp accents from their "Christmas Past Collection" that I had in my handy arsenal.
The cute little numbers on the drawers are Maya Road's Bingo Numbers and I just knew the moment I saw those in the store what I wanted to use them for!  Do you like Santa's belt buckle?  That was an old earring that I found while at a garage sale.  I added Helmar Textured Effects to Santa's beard, hair and trim for fun, then sprinkled some floral soft on his beard for a little added dimension and texture.

Other Ingredients:
Floral Soft, Polar White on Santa's beard (my stash)
Plastic snowflake accents (my stash)
Sentiment blocks are Spellbinder's Labels Four, but Labels 10 or 11 would be smashing too!
Rub-on star accents and the sentiment are Kaisercraft (my stash)
Pointsettia's and leaf are Prima, sugar coated brads by Doodlebug (my stash)
Tim Holtz hitches for stocking hangers (my stash)
Jenni Bowlin Journaling Card for Santa's List. (my stash)
Ribbon on Santa's list from the Store.

I have to share with you how super excited I am to have this project ready for the holidays!  Last year I could not get my hands on one of these anywhere.  Don't wait if you want to get one, order your calendar now.  It's a super fun project!!!  Oh...  and Thoughts 2 Paper is also have a 40% off sale!  Visit the online store and use this code CHAROOM to receive your 40% now through August 28th!

Simple Fun

Happy Saturday to you!

Today I have a fun page for you that I created using the American Crafts Dear Lizzy line from the Thoughts2Paper store. I used some of the coordinating items in the line, the felt accent, the chipboad flowers and the crocheted flowers.

This is one of my favorite photos from this summer! It was a hot night and the kids needed to run some energy off so we just put the sprinkler out. They had more fun with that than anything! I grabbed some awesome photos too. This photo reminds me that the best things in life are really free.

When I looked at these papers, I just had to start cutting. The movement and lines of the patterns were so whimsical. To create the fawn I used my cricut cartridge "Give a Hoot", then I added some fibers to create her eyelashes, the crocheted flower was a final touch. Journaling on the bottom swirl finished the page nicely for me. I don't typically journal in my handwriting a lot, but I challenged myself and am glad I did it!

Other items used are Martha Stewart butterfly punch, Me and My Big Ideas chipboard alphas, round epoxy alphas, popdots and thread.

Take a moment to pop on over to the Thoughts2Paper store to check out our Cricut cartridges (Create a Critter is just adorable!), paper lines and punches! Dear Lizzy was so popular that the papers did sell out, but there are still some coordinating items available.  You will be sure to find just the right products to inspire you!

Have a fabulous weekend!!!

Legacy of Love...

Happy Friday!

I’m here with my current creation for Thoughts2Paper.  Lucky me, I was given the glorious My Mind’s Eye’s beautiful So Sophie collection to work with!  I can’t even begin to tell you how beautiful this line is! The variety and elegance of these papers are simply fantastic.

I took this photo during a recent visit to my Dad’s farm. Its most likely one of the last pictures I will have of my boys where they are both in diapers. So my title became “Diaper Duo… Legacy of Love”… (grin!) It was extremely warm this summer day and my little guys took a break from the sprinklers to goof off.

For this project I decided to use the circle diecut as is. I used the I-Rock and colored gems to enhance the center of the florals on here. For extra interest and dimension on my title block, I added some Ranger Glossy Accents and popped with foam dots.

Journal pull reads: Grandpa’s Farm 7-17-10 You had the best time at Grandpa’s farm! Tractor rides, running through the sprinkler and playing with the water pump. It was so much fun to see you enjoy the farm as much as I did when I was little. XoXo Mommy.

The bracket on the bottom is one of the strips from a page. I just love that they include designs on those strips, genius! Trust me, you need to check out this line from MME!!!

Store Items: My Mind’s Eye ‘So Sophie’ collection, Zva bling flourish, I-Rock gems, Diamond Stickles, Martha Stewart Deep Edge Floral Vine Punch, Ranger Glossy Accents, Maya Road stick pins, Jenni Bowlin banner stickers and Helmar Zapdots. Ranger Distress Inks: Walnut Stain, Peeled Paint and Weathered Wood.
Other Items: 2 Martha Stewart butterfly punches, 1 mini EK Success butterfly punch, bead garland, aqua fibers, stampin up file folder punch, hemp cord, thread and epoxy alphas.

Thanks so much for stopping on over! Have a super scrappity day and weekend!!!

p.s.  If you need some extra inspiration for your creations, pop on over to the T2P blog!!!
