ScrapFit Workout 12 - Scrap Bachelor Style!
For those of you who do not know, there is a fun contest going on right now at Life Preserver's called "Scrap Bachelor". We get challenges each week and continue playing through random draw eliminations.
This week the producers presented us with an interesting two fold challenge. We can choose to scrap what our families favorite pastimes and/or games are today, or what our favorite activities or games were as a child. To be entered into a special drawing, you can do both. I decided to do both.
ScrapFit has Workout #12 going on right now to scraplift a Design Team member's work. I decided to use Jodi's workout #4 as inspiration for my Life Preserver's entry and to play along with ScrapFit's challenge!

My Mind's Eye: Challenge 7 - Scrap Bachelor Style!
This weekend we kicked off one our fabulous contests, "Scrap Bachelor" over at Life Preserver's. My first scrappy assignment is to scrap one of our families favorite pasttimes or games. Our favorite family thing to do is to hit the park! After I selected my photos, I knew I wanted to get into that yummy My Mind's Eye, Breaking Free collection.
I decided to pop on over to [stalk] the MME Blog to see if they had any CHA sneak peeks and discovered they were offering up a sketch challenge using 3 photos. What a cool cooincidence, that is exactly what I had selected from my favorite park pictures! I loved the sketch so much I figured I would go with it.
For this piece, I also did a little personal challenge... go outside my comfort zone. White space, no flowers, hand written journaling, use some buttons and cardboard. For me, pretty much everything that makes me freak out a bit. So, guess what happened? I actually really like it! Here it is!
The MME Challenge 7 Sketch (by Anam Stubbington):

Non MME Items Used:
- Cardboard on Cloud Base
- Recollections bling
- AC Black cardstock
- AC Thickers alphas
- Other: Thread, buttons

Bo Bunny Sketch Contest
While browsing my favorite local scrapbook store, Scrapbooks Too, I discovered the most beautiful papers by Bo Bunny, their Serenade line. I had heard through the grapevine that this line was a very hot seller and potentially may be unavailable due to its popularity. What's a girl to do when she hears this? Of course I *had* to get some! Life Preserver's was lucky enough to get this for their January Featured kit!
Normally I "save" such beautiful things in my stash, but when I visited the Bo Bunny Blog and saw that awesome sketch, I just knew what I was going to use!
Here is the sketch:
Here is my interpretation of it:

Other items used:
- Music paper for sentiment, flowers and leaves (The Way We Were)
- I-Top Brad maker
- K&Co TC Blossomwood Butterflies
- Tim Holtz Journaling Tag (Hidden)
Other: 1 bling brad, thread, acrylic heart, coffee filter, cardboard and Lumiere paints

What's New?
A brand new year, that means it is also time for a new contest over at Life Preservers Club! It's "Scrap Bachelor" which will prove to be a super fun time for everyone who plays along. There will be fun chances for prizes, lots of twists and turns and extra scrappy fun assignments to get your inspiration jumpstarted! Registration is still open until noon on Saturday, January 16th, EST! Come on over, we would love to have you join us!
Considering that it is a brand new year, I decided to make a calendar. My fellow Life Preserver sister Gabrielle, provided a challenge at our last crop for the cutest coffee sleeve mini album. I had it partially complete, but never added photo's or finished it. During last weekend's ScrapFit crop, coach Kelly posted a calendar challenge was just perfect for this! I added three more little sleeves to make a total of 12 pages and finished the calendar! Hello to 2010!!

Some scraps, some tags and voila!
A little scrap of this, a bit of that - and voila! Here is an 8.5 x 11 layout that I created with some of my scraps from the December featured Life Preservers kit. Staying true to my scrappy 2010 promises, I used a reindeer tag that was attached to our son's Santa gift. The sentiments on here are cut from our 2009 Christmas card.
I thought this layout would be just perfect to play along with Scrapfit's workout #11. For the challenge all you need to do it include stitching and the sentiment "It's a Wonderful Life!". There is still time to play, it is open until January 15!

Happy Unlimited New Year!
I suppose you are wondering what that means! Ali Edwards offers some fabulous inspiration by selecting one word to focus on for each new year. Von over at Life Preservers offered up the challenge to come up with a word and create a page about it. I decided to go for it! After reflecting back on what an amazing year 2009 was, I decided that for me, 2010 is all about being "unlimited". Sure, 2009 had challenges, but out of every challenge comes one kind of blessing or another. I truly feel that absolutely nothing can limit you unless you allow it to.
This layout, although it is very simple, was a fun change of pace. It encompasses a few scrappy inclusions for the new year. I will try to journal more in my handwriting, like it or not! I will use my stash when I can. This page was created from a Life Preservers October kit. I had pieced the leftover papers into colorblocks and it was just waiting for some love. Fancy, no, perfect, no, but sometimes simple is just right.
