Allegra....

Ok, so this weekend has come and gone so quickly!  I only was able to get a little scrapping in.  My allergies were really in overdrive so that means I took Allegra which makes me want to nap, nap and nap some more.

Life Preserver's Big Scrapper House Contest is finally calling their Bingo words.  I got all of the first ones called which was kind of like winning the mini lottery with no cash.  ha ha!!

Can't wait to hear more about what is in store for us.  We had to pick one of 3 doors and email it into the host.  Now we wait for further instructions.

Until later....  Be well!

Tricks n' Tips: Staz On Lid "Staz On!"

I saw this Staz-On ink tip on YouTube and thought how brilliant is this?!  Take your clear adhesive dots, (I used 3 medium flat ones), place them in the middle of the plastic liner on top of the grooves.

Now when you replace the lid, that liner will stay in place and you will not have to worry about touching with your fingers or getting ink on anything other than your project.

Scrapping Smart - Tips to Stretch Your $'s

This helpful tip is courtesy of my good friend Des!  I was in Archiver's today to use a coupon for buy 2, get 2 free from their "Hot Spot".  So, the final price on the four items becomes $4 or a buck each.  How can you refuse that??!!

I found some word bling and started digging into the basket, searching for the longest word or name that I could find in the color that I wanted.  I ended up with "snowman".  To use it, I will cut the bling apart and use pieces individually. Des really scored and found "mackenzie" at her local dollar store.  You can never tell where you will find a great scrap deal!

Ok, this works best:
  1. Only if you don't have anyone with that name you would be tempted to scrap it for.  : )
  2. If you are not a bling snob;  you know who you are! ha ha!
I just loved this money saving tip and it is so obvious, yet out of the box!  Thanks Des!

Michael's Deals...

I scored this bunch of flowers for .79 cents at Michael's today.  80% off retail!  I pulled the flowers off and now can modify with glimmer mist or paint or ink to customize as needed.

I love to pick up white anything because it is so easily altered.  An added bonus, the pretty leaves and berries are delicious!

Happy Thursday and my latest LPC project...

Here is my challenge for the Life Preservers Club "Big Scrapper House" sketch challenge, week 3.

You'd think that working off of a sketch would be way easier than creating from scratch. I thought so too (since I've not used a sketch yet!)... but that was SO not the case! I had a few little bumps along the way, but in the end, this is how it turned out.  Fun stuff!  In the close up photo of  my son with his pacifier, Eyore was to the right on his shoulder.  I decided to crop the photo to keep Eyore for something unsual and silly.

For the choo-choo train, I put it on top of a ripped embossed scrap of cardstock. You can't see it very well, but I made some smoke puffs in black plastic snaps that are in the red flower centers, then on the background. I then added the swirly do rub-on's. I then figured I should doodle another one on the red background, just to play a bit. I am always slightly scared to write directly on my projects. I'm trying to get over it and it's not so bad!
.
To mix things up a bit, I decided to use my new Memory Makers vintage stamps as paper blocking, then I  created my own "stamp" for part of the title work. That was the finishing touch.

Curious how this translates to a maybe 12x12 page?  Well, so am I!  This is the background paper I had in mind.

Thanks for looking - Now go on with your bad self and have a super scrappity day!!

Going Home

This page was done for the http://www.lifepreserversclub.com/ "Big Scrapper House" challenge for week 2.
  • Journaling inside the Tag reads:  "If I were honest with myself... I'd admit I'm scared to raise 2 boys! I'm not keen on frogs, worms or snakes! But oh, how I love my Boys!!" When you flip it over there is more hidden: "Love notes from Mommy... Always and forever you will be my babies to me..." "I want you both to know you are my best blessings ever! I love you for always - you will be my babies!"
PP - Nursery Tales by Prima.
1 - Background, 2 - 1st photo mat, 3, photo corners.
PP - MemoryStor (photo frame & shadow font)
Cardstock: 1 - light pink shimmer is Prima, 2 Lavendar is Gemstones
Tag is Making Memories, brads are Recollections.
Arrow and Photo Corners: Fancy Pants
Ghost Clock: Heidi Swapp

Shimmmer mist: Homemade - spritzed on flowers and Grungeboard letter G.
Stamp: Kelly Pannaci's "captured in time" stamp, ink is adirondak (on flower)
Cricut: Cuttin Up.

1. I stamped the glimmer misted flower with "captured in time".
2. I stamped alcohol inks on the acrylic photo corners, arrow, ghost clock and on the rim of the originally silver tag to soften it.
3. Bling is within the brads on the flowers in the titlework. Glimmer misted all flowers as well, and the cardstock is shimmer.

The Sweetest Love

Imagine my surprise when I received an email telling me that my layout was selected as the layout for the week on the Life Preservers Club Website on 8/16!  What an honor!!  I thought I would share it with you.
  • This is a photo of my brothers and I as young children.  I just adore this photo and did not have a copy of it until very recently.  When I got the photo I knew that I had to scrap it in a special way.  I printed this out in all variations and in the end, chose to convert to a sepia tone.
  • I plan to hang this on display in a scrapbook shadowbox frame.  Fortunately for me, my brothers are still my best friends in the whole world.

Dreams Fulfilled
I created this page as the "beginning" page of our family story album. My dh romantically proposed on one of the Bridges in Madison County. I had so much fun making this page, working with these papers and materials.

The "Fate" indexed tag in the "Because You Are Special" journal pocket in "Dreams Fulfilled" reads:
Septemer 5, 2005,  We are officially engaged, beginning our new journey in this life together! We both waited a long time to find one another. Two years + of a long distance romance... surely it is [Fate].

Another hidden journal tag under the bridge perspective photo chronicles the days events and proposal. There is a chipboard pearl flower on the photo marking the spot where he popped the question. I stitched the butterfly, but it is disguised by the copper pearl. The title is held by two bling brads which I couldn't resist using. [cheese alert!]

Keyholes, key, grungeboard, brads and distress inks by Tim Holtz. Blue Awning collection by K&Co. Pearls by Kaiser, Index Tab and Ghost Clock by Heidi Swapp. Butterfly punch by Martha Stewart. Other items including the title were deals in my stash.
